Selling Limit Problems and Better Picture Taking Equipment

Sorry it's been so long since I last posted. eBay put a selling limit on the amount of women's clothing I can sell so I've had to learn how to sell other things. We also recently got a blow-up manikin, a white background cloth, and an umbrella light so I had to retake pictures of all the clothing items I have listed. I also went on vacation in the Boundary Waters area and I've had interviews, applications to fill out, and resume/cover letter updating. So here are the list of items I've picked up recently, those that have sold, and one of the new pictures on a previous item that you've seen before so you can see the difference.

First of all here is a new picture of one of the items from my last post. The pictures look so much better on the manikin vs. hanging up on the wall. Don't you agree with me?

I bought a bible at Goodwill last week for $2.99. It was titled The Living Bible paraphrased the Large Print Edition that was published by Tyndale copyright 1971. It sold just hours after I listed it for $15.00 as a buy it now with free shipping. The item was a book so I was able to ship it Media Mail and save some money. So after shipping and fees and I made $6.13.

I picked up a Tahari Pink Striped shirt at the Goodwill Outlet the last time we were there, but I haven't been able to list it due to eBay seller limits. I haven't been able to list more than a certain amount of women's clothing for quite some time. So I'm still trying to list stuff from sweater day. As something sells I'm able to list one more item. It weighed 5.6 ounces so I bought it for $0.52. This was a women's size medium "M" blouse that measured 27" long, the sleeves were 20.5" long, the neck was 12", and the bust was 18". It sold less than 24 hours after I posted it and I literally waited almost 4 whole days for the payment! I have unpaid item assistant set up so that it will start a case after 4 days, which helps with people who don't pay for the items they buy. I seriously wasn't sure if they were gonna pay or not. It sold for $14.25 free shipping as a buy it now.

I happened to be digging around in our storage room with all the xmas decor, halloween costumes, and baby clothing and toys from when we were little. I found 2 Gameboy games that worked in a box with random stuff. One was an original Pokemon Blue Game and the other was a Toy Story 2 game. I sold them together as a buy it now with free shipping for $25.00.

In our basement I found an old toy that we used to play with when my sister and I were little. It was a Fisher-Price Fun with Food Muffins box copyright 1988. It's currently being sold for $12.95 free shipping as  a buy it now with the best offer option on my eBay page.

The day I was digging around in our storage room I also found a couple handheld travel games. One was a Tiger Electronics Space Jam game from 1992. The other was a Tiger Electronics Toy Story Game from 1992. I put brand new batteries in them and they both work! The Space Jam game is being sold for 14.95 free shipping as a buy it now.

The Toy Story game is being sold for $20.49 free shipping as a buy it now with the best offer option.

While cleaning my room, I found I had a top that still has the tags on it and doesn't fit me. It's a Miley Cyrus Max Azria Junior's Purple Leopard Print Chiffon Blouse Size Small. It's 22" long, the bust is 15", and the neck is 16". It's currently being sold for $12.95 free shipping as a buy it now with the best offer option.

In my dresser I found a pair of Bullhead Laguna Boot Cut Jeans from Pac-Sun that I cannot for the life of me get over my butt. No matter how much I suck in!! They're a size 00S which normally would fit me perfectly, but sizes vary between brands which is why we measure things. They measure 33.5" long, inseam is 28", rise in front is 6", rise in back is 10.5", and the waist is 24". They're currently being sold for $14.95 free shipping as a buy it now with the best offer option.

Also in my closet was a pair of Biaggi girls dress clothes that I used to wear to funerals when I was very little. There is a blazer that I used to wear along with it, but since the brands are the same the outfit and blazer will be sold separately. The top is a girls size Medium and the pants are a girls size Small. The top measures 17" long, the sleeves are 9" long, and the bust is 15.5". The pants are 33" long, with a 24" inseam, a 22" waist, rise in front of 9.5", and a rise in back of 11". It is currently being sold for $15.00 free shipping as a buy it now with the best offer option.

Also another item I bought the last time we went to the Goodwill Outlet. I have listed a J. Crew Blue Striped Blouse with Ruffles down the middle. It's 27" long, sleeves are 20" long, neck is 14" long, and the bust is 18.5". It is currently being sold for $15.95 free shipping as a buy it now.

One of the things also from the Goodwill Outlet on what we were calling sweater day was a Women's Eddie Bauer Off White Cable Knit Sweater. It's a Women's Size Medium. It measures 23" long, sleeves are 19.5", and the bust is 17.5". It's listed for $24.95 free shipping as a buy it now with the best offer option.

That's it for the clothes cause I can't list anymore clothing unless something sells! The first non-clothing item I picked up was a Valenti & Co Frosted Glass Plate with a Silver Mother and Child Medallion. I'm selling it for $14.00 free shipping as a buy it now with the best offer option.

I found some collectors plates which I currently have selling for various prices. I'll post the pictures of each, but I'll leave up to you to check out the items on my eBay page with the link at the bottom of the post or to comment/message me for more info. I'd just be a lot to write about. Collectors plates are the main thing I'm into now since I can't sell clothing.

I also picked up recently collectors/commemorative plates of various churches. The ones I found were all from Illinois so I'm calling them the "churches of Illinois plates". Once again I'll post the pictures here, but I'm leaving it up to you if you wanna know more.

I also bought 2 ceramic tiles that were made in Italy. They have felt attached the backs of them so they could be used as hot pads or tile trivets. They're currently for sale on my eBay page for $16.00 free shipping as a buy it now with the best offer option.

Being from Minnesota this is something I was very excited about, a Minnesota State Parks Itasca (headwaters of the Mississippi!!) State Park Limited Edition Centennial Mug/Beer Stein. It's currently being sold for 14.95$ with 8.50$ shipping.

I also found a very fun item(s). It's an Anheuser Busch 6 Pack of mini Mugs/Shot Glasses. It's currently being sold for $20.95 free shipping as a buy it now with the best offer option.

I found a 24% lead crystal leaf by Crystal Clear Industries that's made in Yugoslavia. It's currently being sold for $11.00 with $2.75 shipping as a buy it now.

Last but not least, keep an eye out for this in the coming days. I haven't listed it yet, but I will very soon.

I've also completely paid my dad back since they last time I posted so now everything I make is mine. I'm going out garage saling this weekend there will be another post on that to come soon. The next post though will be pictures from the vacation I was just on. Minnesota really has some beautiful back country and I couldn't see myself living any where else. This really is god's country and I'd like to show that off a little bit.

As you may or may not know I just graduated from college in May and unfortunately I'm STILL looking for a full time job. I've literally spent every waking minute applying to full time jobs and not I'm even adding part time jobs into the mix so between eBay and that I stay very busy. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers and hopefully soon I will find a job.

As always here the link to my eBay page for you to check out these, previous, and any other items not mentioned. http://www.ebay.com/sch/schu2978/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=25&_trksid=p3686

Goodwill Outlet Continued

As stated in my last post... There were a couple items that I didn't say anything about. I'm referring to a Columbia jacket and an H&M Shirt. We also hit the Goodwill Outlet again this past weekend. After this past weekends visit I'm sure we'll be taking a few weeks off mainly because we have a lot of stuff now and our towns summer festival is next weekend and we have friends coming out to visit for this event.

Also just a little rant about the Goodwill Outlet store, I promise I won't go on forever and I'll get to the good stuff. People there do not get the concept of personal space seriously... standing two inches from someone, looking over your shoulder, and being pushy is not good shopping manners people! I don't care who you are!! Also every time they put out a new box of clothes it's literally like bee's to honey, it's a little scary.

Anyways this week must have been sweater week because that seemed to be all they were putting out. Why you'd sell sweaters to people in the middle of summer when it's literally 80-90 degrees with 70% humidity here I don't know. It was even hotter than that in the Outlet store, people were leaving saying it was too hot to shop. My guess is not too many people were buying sweaters that day, but I bought some nice ones and I'm all stocked up for fall now. So here's what I picked out and I'll start with the remainder of the stuff from last week.

I found a brown women's small Columbia rain jacket it weighed 12.4 ounces so I got it for 1.15$. It sold like within a day or two of posting it for 20.99$ as a buy it now with free shipping on eBay.  This was the big find from last week.

I also found a like new H&M women's small blue and white striped top with a silk ribbon that goes around the collar and can be tied in a bow. It's super cute! It weighs 2.8 ounces so that means I got it for 0.26$. It's being sold on eBay for 14.95$ as a buy it now with free shipping and a best offer option. Seriously if it doesn't sell by the end of the summer, I may just keep it since it's in my size! Ok, my size is an extra small, but a small will work to.

On to this weeks finds, this week I found a pair of Tommy Hilfiger women's size 6 shorts. They weigh 10.2 ounces so I spent 0.95$ on them. They sold for 13.95$ as a buy it now with free shipping on my eBay page.

One of the sweaters I found was a New York and Company women's XL metallic and gray striped sweater. It weighs 13.1 ounces which means it's gonna cost me to ship it. So when you do the math I spent 1.22$ on this sweater. It's being sold as a buy it now on eBay for 18.95$ free shipping.

Another sweater I found was a St. Johns Bay ivory cable knit women's size 1X sweater. It weighs 1 lbs 3.6 ounces so it's gonna cause even more to ship. I spent 1.83$ on it and I'm selling it for 20.95$ on eBay as a buy it now with free shipping.

I found a Chico's women's size 2 metallic sweater. It weighs 1 lbs 2.8 ounces so I spent 1.75$ on it. I'm selling it on eBay for 20.95$ free shipping as a buy it now item. Once again I wear a size 0 so a size 2 is probably a little big for me, but if this one doesn't sell I may consider keeping it if it fits (it'd be great for around the holidays or anytime in the winter with the cold and snow around here). It's that cute!

I also found a purple Banana Republic Extra Fine Merino Wool Sweater. It's a women's size small. It weighs 7.6 ounces (finally something that won't cost an arm and a leg to ship with free shipping) so that means I spent  0.71$. I'm selling it for 19.95$ free shipping as a buy it now on eBay. Merino wool is another one of those things I was told to just grab, so I did. This sweater is another one of those things where if it doesn't sell I'll probably keep it and even those it's a size small, it's small enough where it may actually fit. Not 100% sure about how I'd look in this color of purple, but we'll worry about that if it doesn't sell.

I did find a few blouses one of which was a Lauren by Ralph Lauren 100% silk striped blouse. It's a women's size 1X. It weighs 9.7 ounces so I spent 0.90$ on it. I just sold it this morning for 14.95$ free shipping as a buy it now item on eBay.

Much like last week, some things needed cleaning and ironing and such so this isn't everything I bought. Sorry but once again you'll have to stay tuned to see the rest. Like I said this week was sweater week so be prepared for more sweaters. Total I spent about 16$ on 10.5 lbs of clothes (sweaters weigh more). I now owe my dad 46$ (ugh!), but I"m starting to make money and I should be able to pay him back soon. Then I can go shopping on my own. My paypal account says I have 66$ in sales and considering I started out borrowing 20$ from my dad and I owe him 46$, I'd say I'm doing pretty good.

Also for next week be prepared for something a little new from me. Since I just graduated from college and hope to get a job and move from home sometime in the next several months. I decided I would down size a little and get rid of some of the clothes that I never took to college with me that have been collecting dust in my dresser for the last 6 years among other things in boxes from when I was a kid (toys and such). This will only help me when I move out because there will be less to go through. I've decided to see which things will sell and which will not. Those that won't sell get donated.

I also just noticed there are a lot of things I bought this week that I'm excited about and that I'd be happy to have. Hopefully other people like this items as much as I do! You may not know (except I just stated it above) I just graduated from college with a BS in biomedical science and a minor in chemistry. I just got my diploma in the mail this week!! I also had a job interview (this is my second job interview, I had one a couple weeks ago with a different company and they rehired the guy who quit I guess). Not only am I doing this eBay reselling (and telling you guys about it), I'm also on what feels like a never ending job hunt. In case you're wondering I think the job interview it went good and hopefully I get a call soon for the second interview. Hope to get the job because it's a company I'd love to work for and in a town I'd love to move to. I'll keep you posted!

As always to view the above items on my eBay page as well as the other items I'm currently selling here's the link:

Thrift Store Haul Number Two: Goodwill Outlet Store

Today was my second thrift store haul and I picked everything out by myself. My dad decided we should try out the Goodwill outlet this time. For those of you that don't know what a Goodwill outlet is... It's basically where everything that doesn't sell in the regular Goodwill thrift shops in the state goes and if it doesn't sell there then it gets sent to the landfill or to be made into rags or where ever they send the stuff that doesn't sell. Also they sell everything by the pound. For example today's haul sold for 1.49$ per pound. We bought 40 lbs of clothing which totaled 60$!! Personally I picked out 7 lbs of clothes totaling 10$. So here are my finds for the week!

The first item I purchased was a pair of Women's Size 10 Tommy Hilfiger Low Rise Boot Cut Jeans. They weigh 1 lb and 1 oz, so that means I spent 1.58$ on them. The inseam 25" with a rise in front of 9" and a rise in back of 12" with a size 32 waist. This pair of jeans retails for 68$ and I'm selling them for 17.50$ free shipping as a buy it now on Ebay with the best offer option. These jeans are in great condition so whoever ends up buying them is getting a great deal!

Next I found an Ann Taylor Women's Size 8 long black skirt. It's 37" long with a size 28 waist. It's a full length skirt with a slit in the front and the zipper is in the back and it's fully lined. It weighs 12.5 oz meaning I paid 1.16$. It's currently being sold for 15.50$ free shipping as a buy it now item on Ebay with the best offer option.

I also found a very similar Ann Taylor Loft Women's Size 10 long black skirt. This is also a full length skirt with a slit and zipper in the front. It's 35" long and has a size 30 waist. It's lined as well and light weight. It weighs 10.7 oz so it costed me 1$. It was listed for 13.95$ free shipping as a buy it now option on Ebay with the best offer option. It sold for 12.50$ so I didn't lose any money and the customer was happy getting a couple dollars off.

I decided to go out on a limb and buy a brand I've never heard of Briggs New York. I picked out a knee length black skirt Women's Size 6 which weighs 7.8 oz so I paid 0.73$ for it. It's currently being sold for 12.95$ free shipping as a buy it now item on Ebay with the best offer option.

I found a pair of Women's Medium Nike Dry Fit Workout/Walking capris. They weigh 8.3 ounces so that makes them 0.78$ and they are being sold for 14.50$ free shipping as a buy it now option on Ebay with the best offer option.

I was super excited to find an Women's Large Allison Taylor 100% Silk top. I've never heard of Allison Taylor before, but I was told that if you can find anything that's 100% silk to buy it. It weighs 1.5 oz so it costed me 0.06$. It's being sold for 14.95$ free shipping as a buy it now item on Ebay with the best offer option.

Another thing I was super excited about was an Women's Medium Ann Taylor 100% Cashmere Top. Just like with the silk I was told that whenever you can get something 100% cashmere buy it. It weighed 4 ounces so once you do the math, it costed me 0.37$ and it was being sold for 15.95$ free shipping as a buy it now option on my Ebay page with the best offer option. I originally received an offer for 7.00$ which it a little ridiculous because less than half of what I have it listed for. I counter offered 15.00$  and never heard from them again. Because of this I used the amazing eBay function where I can have it auto decline offers less than a certain dollar amount and I never hear about or have to deal with those offers. I set the minimum at 12.50$ so any offers less than that never got through to me and got auto declined. I ended up getting an offer for 12.95$ which I accepted.

I got an Women's X-Small Aeropostale top with some pretty detailing around the neckline. It weighs 3.1 oz which adds up to 0.29$. It's being sold for 9.99$ as a buy it now with free shipping on Ebay.

I picked out a Victoria's Secret cami top. It weighs 1.9 oz which makes it 0.18$. It's being sold for for 13.95$ as a buy it now with free shipping on Ebay with the best offer option.

I found an American Eagle Tank Top that weighed 2.6 oz so I got it for 0.24$. It retails for around 20.00$. I'm selling it for 11.00$ as a buy it now with free shipping on Ebay with the best offer option.

Again I was going out on a limb because I wasn't sure I had heard of Briggs New York before but I found a Green top with an interesting design on it. It weighs 6.7 oz making it 0.62$. It's currently on Ebay for $12.95 as a buy it now with free shipping and the best offer option is available on this one as well.

I found an interesting Michael by Michael Kors top. It's like a combination of a halter top and polo shirt. It looked cool! It weighs 4.7 oz making it 0.44$. It was listed at 15.95$ free shipping with the best offer option on eBay. Once again the best offer option worked it's magic and this top sold for 15.00$ free shipping.

I should easily be able to make the money I spent today back. All in all I'm starting to like this thrift shopping and reselling. Thrift store shopping is actually kind of fun. Especially when you keep finding Ann Taylor items over and over again. I'm not a fan of digging through piles of clothes, so the outlet store isn't something I'd make a habit out of plus it's over an hour away. Every once in awhile it could be fun.

Stay tuned because everything listed here isn't everything we picked up today. Still to come is a Columbia jacket and a super cute H&M top. Also we will be stopping at the Goodwill outlet again later this week for another major haul!
Here's the link to my Ebay listing in case you interested in these items or others that I'm selling.

My First Thrift Store Haul

I went to Goodwill the other day to pick up some items to try to resale on Ebay. I ended up spending 18.51$ on 4 items and I got some pretty good deals. They were having a Summer Color Tag Sale so all blue tags were 20% off and all green tags were 15% off.

The first item my dad helped me pick out, which was a Vintage Clear and Milk White Glass Ceiling Light Fixture. Originally it was 0.99$, but we got it for 0.79$. It sold on Ebay as a Buy it Now for 4.95$ plus 7.95$ shipping.

The second item that my dad also helped me pick out was a bag of 9 old looking spice tins. One of the tins even has the copyright of 1950 on it. 8 of the 9 tins are Schilling spice tins and 1 is a Watkins spice tin. The whole bag was originally 14.99$, but we got it for 12.74$. They are being sold in groups based on they're condition. The two in the best condition are a Cayenne Pepper tin and a Savory tin. They sold on Ebay as a Buy it Now for 8.95$ free shipping.
The next best tins are the Onion Salt bottle and Parsley flakes tin which sold on Ebay as a buy it now option for 8.95$ free shipping. The Parsley flakes tin has the copyright of 1950 on it.
The next tins are a group of four including: Mace, Ginger, Curry Powder, and Cloves which sold on Ebay as a buy it now option for 8.95$ free shipping.
The last tin was the Watkins Allspice tin, which is being sold by itself because it was all alone in the bag. It was being sold on Ebay as a buy it now option for 8.95$ free shipping. I ended up bringing the price down to $6.95 free shipping as a buy it now with the best offer option. It sold for $6.25.

The third item was also something that my dad helped me pick out. We found a printer tricolor ink cartridge that was still in the box. It was an HP 28 printer ink cartridge. It was originally 1.99$ and we got it for 1.59$. It sold on Ebay as a buy it now option for 8.95$ with 1.95$ shipping.

The last item was one that I picked out (the first item I found on my own!). It's a leather Hendrick's Gin carrying case advertising piece. It was originally 3.99$, but we got it for 3.39$. It sold in an Ebay auction for 8.95$ with 3.95$ for shipping.
So as you can see they're all decent items. There is profit to be made off of garage sale and thrift store shopping and reselling. I mean I spent $18.51 on these items and they have all sold. In total they sold for $69.80. I made somewhere between $40-$50 total on these items as a whole.

The idea sounded really dumb to me at first, but it's actually tougher than it looks to find brands that will actually sell and that will make a profit as well. If you'd like to check any of these items out on ebay here's the link to my ebay page: http://my.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MyEbay&gbh=1

I plan to stop in at the thrift store again by myself this time to pick up more items and to try it again without my dads help this time. Wish me luck!
